Capturing Memories Through The Lens

I use photography as a means to share the world around me. I make pictures of places that many of my friends and family will never visit. As a child I read about all these wild and wonderful places in the world but doubted I would ever actually visit most of them. In my imagination these places were so distant and remote – inaccessible but for a few people. After developing a love for photography and marveling at images captured by photographers we admired my wife and I decided that life was to short not to visit places we had often talked about. It became our goal to visit and photograph every major national park in the US. Sometimes our images don’t work out the way we had wished but we always walk away with great memories.

My goal is to make photographs that represent what I saw, felt, and “heard” at a place – often I won’t take a photograph until I associate a song with it which is usually a favorite jazz piece.
